Notes from Steve

August 4, 2025

I just got back a couple of days ago from RAGBRAI 2025.

The last day of RAGBRAI 2025 was around 65 miles, and it was raining for the first half. It’s not fun to ride your bike in the rain. After the rain cleared, however, we came upon about 10 miles of Amish country. Little kids and their folks and grandparents were all lined up and waving and selling their homemade goods on the side of the road. The hills were plentiful and very green, and it was a beautiful ending to a wonderful week.

Some people plan their year around certain holidays or events. For the past ten years - half of my year has been heavily dominated with planning and training for RAGBRAI. We line up houses to camp at and recruit riders for the ISH team.  We can’t do anything about the weather or the roads or the route, but we can plan. This year we had more music, fresh coffee every morning (my Mr. Coffee - yay!!), a lot of laughter and tears of joy … and lots of rain.

I think it was the best RAGBRAI ever.
