Summer Intern Program

Program Details 

Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics (ISH) is proud to offer students the opportunity to intern at our facilities to discover the many careers available in the healthcare field.

The ISH Summer Intern Program focuses on exposing students to healthcare fields. This 6 week program will be held from June 12 - July 21, 2023.

For these paid and unpaid internships, students must be entering their senior year of high school or an active college student.

Summer interns must submit an application, parental consent form, and a written reference letter to Human Resources. Interns will be interviewed by ISH staff members. Individuals who are selected will be required to follow the student expectations, dress code, and facility Standards of Behavior.

Program Goals

The summer internship program provides students with opportunities to: 

  • Expand their knowledge about healthcare career options 
  • Provide professional development opportunities
  • Build connections and relationships with ISH team members
  • Encourage future careers at Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics

Student Selection Requirements

  • Entering senior year of high school or an active college student
  • Provide proof of COVID vaccination
  • Meet any Occupational Health requirements

Student Expectations

  • Attend mandatory orientation
  • Attend weekly professional development trainings
  • Follow proper dress code - see below
  • Follow cell phone policy
  • Follow Standards of Behavior
  • Travel to locations based on availability of field interest

Dress Code

  • Polo shirt provided by ISH
  • Dark colored pants or khakis - no jeans or leggings
  • Closed toed shoes
  • Name badge issued by ISH
