I think the tiny no-see-um black bugs are causing people undue anxiety.  It looks beautiful outside until you get bitten a million times.  Like digging into a cake and finding the person who baked it used salt instead of sugar.  I rode my bike on the trails in Des Moines, through lots of trees, and encountered a lot of squirrels and ground squirrels* and a ton of angry no-see-ums.  I went really fast to outrun them.  I also ran over a snake.  Sigh.  The temperature was perfect, though.

I don't think perfection exists.  And honestly, if I came upon perfection, I'd wonder what was wrong. Yesterday, I was riding with friends, and we were talking about funerals.  My neighbor in Sioux City, Joyce Peterson, died 20 years ago. At the funeral, they handed out little bottles of cremated Joyce and said, "On your travels in this world, it's Joyce's wish that you sprinkle a little of her".  At the time, I was taken aback as this was the first time that I'd ever heard of something like this.  I think I love it now.  I told this to my friends, and they said, "We should celebrate life when it is the best and do all the travel and have fun when we're alive!"

So, we challenged ourselves.  We all agreed that we need to appreciate the good times when they exist - might not be perfect - but it's better than waiting until you die to get "sprinkled on" places you wanted to visit but never found the time.  What are you putting off?  What are you not doing because it might be a little uncomfortable or not convenient right now?

Just do it - tomorrow might be too late.

*" squinny" is the local term in Des Moines.  I bark at them.
