Notes from Steve

June 30, 2025

My nephew, Dave, and his beautiful bride, Sophia, got married this past weekend (June 21st) in Clarion.  God somehow decided that hot, humid, and windy needed to be on the menu for the weather - it was fantastic, nevertheless.*  I asked Rob - Dave’s dad - earlier in the week what he was looking forward to the most from the wedding weekend.  “Sunday” - he replied.  I thought that was the best answer.**

I was somewhat anxious with all the plans, so I started a checklist.  I’m a huge fan of the checklist. I told someone that the day after Christmas is bittersweet - full of memories and exhaustion.  My goal as of late is to enjoy the moments, not just look forward to the memories.  Checklists are good, but not if you are just plowing through without appreciation … Just a goal currently, working on the details.

Life feels like time is going really fast right now.  Seems as though a couple of days ago, it was winter, and next week is the Fourth of July.  I need everything to slow down so I can fully appreciate what’s going on.***

*After the reception (when the dancing started), a bunch of us went back to my backyard, sat around and played songs, and watched the lightning bugs.  It was kind of magical.
**I took a four-hour nap on Sunday afternoon.
***Someone work on this for me (as in slow down time).
