Notes from Steve

“And a good time was had by all” … I used to read this in small-town newspapers regarding everything from major events to people visiting each other’s houses - and reported as news in the paper.  Seems appropriate and validating (if you had any doubt about how your visit went).  Marcharitaville Meltdown was a success, and “a good time was had by all.”*
 
I was sitting with a friend who didn’t work at the hospital, and she said, “This is amazing - the positive energy in this room is strong.”  I agree.  The interesting thing about Iowa Specialty Hospitals and Clinics is our energy is strong and noticeable.  I was in Chicago last week with a couple other leaders and friends, and we spent a lot of time talking about strategy and the future.  The conference we attended was focused on change; “you never make the shots you don’t take.”  Absolutely - the positive energy and desire to do great things will propel us in whatever direction we choose.  I believe we can do whatever we put our minds to - we are that good.
 
“That’s pretty optimistic of you, Steve”.  It is. And I have almost thirty years of proof that we can and do just this.  Honesty, humility, drive, determination, pride, and love win every time.
 
You guys make me proud.  Every.damn.minute.
 
*Not that there were any doubts - I love the smiles and laughter and singing and dancing … it just feels good to be associated with a bunch of people who enjoy hanging out together. Yay us!
