Notes from Steve
I’m on vacation this week. Six 60-year-olds in Cancun for the week. I grew up with these guys - and went to high school and college with them … lifelong friends. This is a long time for me to spend with people. (And this is a long time for people to spend with me).
I’ve got pics of these friends on my desk. I have awesome memories of all these people growing up, and the crazy thing is I feel we all look exactly the same as we did 40 years ago. I know we don’t, though. I also know that our partying now will require a nap, and a lot of our activities will include thoughts on damaging our joints or breaking our hips. (I remember one trip where I got run over by a golf cart, and my leg turned black and blue for 5 months … now I would probably slip into a coma or worse.)
In rounding, we ask the question, “Are you using your PTO?” This is important - I’ve talked to people who don’t - they max out on their vacation every year and then complain because they stop accruing when they max out. My response back is to take a vacation. Sit at home and stare at the front yard if you need to … PTO (paid time off) is for you to use to relax. (Hopefully, you’ll do something fun!)
