Notes from Steve

December 9, 2024

I got hearing aids last Friday.  I was surprised at the things I missed.  I was shocked that my turn signal made noises - click, click, click*.  To tell you the truth, though, my life isn’t (except for the meetings part and hearing everything I’ve missed for years) that much improved.  I think not hearing everyone’s conversations was somewhat liberating.  I was living a quiet, blissful existence.  Now, I’m privy to all the noise … hmmm …

My friend Scott turned 60 last Monday, so I re-gifted something I got.  It was a v-neck t-shirt that said “60-licious”. (deep sigh)  I tried it on and thought … “Guys wear this?”.  I asked Kay Marker (who gave it to me), “What?”.  She said it was a girl’s shirt, and she got it last year for her birthday and thought she’d re-gift it.  I told Scott a couple of days after he got it that it was a girl’s shirt.  (I’m hoping against hope that he wore it).  He said he was re-gifting it to Bob, who turns 60 next February.

I always wonder when it’s cold outside and my house is set a little warmer than usual, why am I so incredibly cold?  I have on a stocking cap, sweatshirt, and heavy socks, and my house is set to 71֯.  It’s like when I’m dieting and I haven’t eaten since lunch, I think I’m starving.  It makes no sense.

I’m trying to smile.  These next three months are going to be tough.  (I’m not a fan of winter)

*And my keyboard is especially loud … Jordan tells me it’s an antique.  yay
