Notes from Steve
Merry Christmas. I was planning on doing the Santa Run in Des Moines on December 14th, but we got the ice storm, so I crawled over to my gym and ran a 5K on the treadmill. Then, I joined everyone later to party in Santa and Elf costumes at the Des Moines East Village pop-up holiday bars. We were the only ones dressed like Santa, the Grinch, and Santa’s Helpers, but that made it all the more fun. Yay (and even more yay when it’s over … my patience for all things Christmas runs thin about now).
Someone recently said you should have definitive plans for 2025. And I do. I have things planned for the entire year. “Don’t you want to have downtime?”* Now that I’m 60, I need to crank up the plans and make sure I don’t get sick or hurt because there is too much to do and see. (I already told you my word for 2025 is “allow” - except skiing and hugging people.)
The Farmer’s Almanac said it will be a winter warmer than normal in Iowa. So that’s what I’m going with. January is typically a very hard month for me, but I’m taking this prediction literally and looking forward to 40-degree weather. I’m “allowing” for them to be right.
