Notes from Steve
A strong wind blew over my guitar on Saturday and broke the head (where strings attach - where the tuning pegs are …). It broke it - like a broken bone. Snap. My guitar was one of the things I planned to grab if my house was burning down. I have a bunch of guitars, but that one specifically was really special to me. I’ll get it fixed (hopefully) and will invest in a new one*. Not sure how I’m feeling with all of this …
My week last week was a head spinner for me. Too much on my plate - I was telling everyone that my theme of the week was “embrace the suck”. Little did I know what that truly meant. However, I survived and probably came out better. The lesson I’m taking from this is stuff is stuff.
The new theme today is “I turn 60 years old in a matter of days”.** My friend Cheryl, who turned 60 last week, asked me, “How did we end up this old?” I told her that we really didn’t have a choice in the matter. She said, “I don’t feel 60 except for all the aches and pains and sagging skin and other stuff.” Yeah, me too.
Time passes, things change, and it is what it is. Live every single day to its best outcome and more often than not, say yes; because you don’t get a redo on this life.
*I haven’t bought a nice guitar in 20 years, and retail therapy is good for the soul. So, there’s that.
**the very definition of “embrace the suck”
