Impending storm stress.
I am a complete fair-weather driver. I hate snow. I used to vacation with friends who had a boat in the Caribbean, and they always used to say in bad weather on the ocean – “no rain, no rainbows”*. I know this, but it still doesn’t change the fact that I really want to throat-punch the lovers of snow. Someone told me they were “so looking forward to it snowing because they could use their snowshoes” … I had no comeback because … seriously?
I wrote last week about the word “perception”. One of my biking friends said the best thing about January and February is the days (post the first day of winter) actually get longer. (That helped a tiny little bit.) We were talking about the theme this year (tides, water, ocean) and making the March Meltdown party beachy. I suggested March-aritaville Meltdown**. I’m holding onto this thought as my life preserver for surviving the next two months.
“Hurkle-durkle” is my friend’s word for the year. It’s a 200-year-old Scottish term meaning to lounge in bed long after it’s time to get up.
Good for her. I’m all for active words.
#goals.
*This is what photography is for. Rainbows. Show me the picture; spare me the storm.
