Notes from Steve

May 26, 2025

I’m not the greatest reader of books.  I sometimes have to trudge through the chapters, checking the page numbers and amount of time I’ve read.  And sometimes - I get a page-turner of a book, and I can’t put it down.  This weekend, my book was one of those - called My Friends by Fredrik Bachman*.  This isn’t a review, but the book held my attention.  I thought it was great.

Sometimes life is weird like that.  Summers go way too fast.  January lasts for 243 days.  Before you know it … life advances, and if we don’t pay attention, we will miss a lot of it buried in stuff that doesn’t matter.**

I’m a BMWer*** when it comes to planning and putting on events.  But - I know if I don’t push and drive and cheerlead sometimes, things won’t happen, and life is way too short not to have great events and times and parties and rides and holiday meals … and other stuff.

I want my life to be a page-turner.  I want to be bothered that I am supposed to read stuff (for my book club), but so grateful that I did because it changed my perspective.  I want the exhaustion of planning and carrying out parties and rides and events - because the memories are awesome.

“That was so much work.  Was it worth it??”

Always.
