Notes from Steve
So, I did a thing - back in October, on my birthday, a bunch of us were talking, and I said, “My goal for this next year is to start running again - I should sign up for a 5K as a goal*”. My friend John said - “I’ll run that with you” and Keith said - “that’s great, so will I”. (I wasn’t expecting this and thought they were just being nice) In January, they confirmed they were training and excited about the run. These are the pics of the Drake 5K on April 21, 2024. I’m actually enjoying running again … Boom.
I think being transparent with your goals and then having people take you seriously and hold you accountable is a great way to get things done.
The other really cool thing was that this was John’s first-ever 5K run and Keith’s (who was a big-time runner back in the day but had knee issues and had to stop) first run in a while. Both credited this with starting or restarting their entry into runs. Yay on that.
This is our goal at ISH this year. Lifting each other up on doing great things - we can always do things on our own, but if we bring along others … we’ll raise up all boats.
*I wasn’t being serious; I was just blathering out loud to fill in the spaces in the conversation.
