Amy's Reflections
Hopefully, everyone is settling into their fall routines now that school is back in session. There is something comforting about the routine of the school year. At our home, we are having a lot of discussions about making big decisions and future plans. The boys are eighteen now and are right in the middle of the transition to adult decisions and consequences. It is such an interesting stage of life as they are about to leave the nest and start their own lives, on to bigger and better things.
These transitions remind me of Iowa Specialty Hospitals and Clinics. We have grown and changed so much over the 24 years I have been here, and it is so fun to reflect on some of those milestones. When I started in Clarion, we had “residents” as inpatients – patients who lived at the hospital instead of transitioning to a care center. It is definitely different than the patient census we see now, where we have bed management calls every day and have to shift patients based on census. We have definitely transitioned to bigger and better things; however, with that comes new challenges of staying focused on patient care and connected as a team. Each new phase brings new challenges, and I am grateful to meet these challenges with an exceptional team.
