Amy's Reflections

March 27, 2023

It is officially Spring, and with that comes a sense of renewed purpose and motivation. I must admit I haven’t had much for motivation over the last few months, and my house certainly shows that’s true. However, with some warmer weather I finally feel like digging in and cleaning out some of the clutter. Motivation can be demonstrated in a lot of different ways and seasons in your life. I remember when Shaila was in the middle of her nursing classes and called one night to tell me that she wanted to switch majors. It was too hard, and she didn’t think she could do it. I was supportive, but asked that she take a couple of days and really think about what motivates her. What brings her joy? As much as she enjoyed her patients, I couldn’t imagine that she was going to end up doing something different. She called the next day and confirmed she really did love patient care and wanted to be a nurse. She had rekindled her passion and found her motivation to keep going.

I have found over the years that those individuals who end up in healthcare are called to that profession to serve others. It isn’t a simple choice, but more part of your DNA. It is truly an incredible calling and so impactful in others’ lives. Healthcare has been challenging the past several years and will continue to be so in the years to come. Please never forget the importance of the work you do every day. You are changing lives! You were called to this career for a specific reason, so take a few minutes to remember your calling, rekindle your passion and renew your motivation. I know that with all of us working together, there is nothing we can’t accomplish.
