Be Kind
The word for this week is to be kind. As a parent, this one hit close to home as we always hope that our kids are being kind to others; no one wants to raise a bully. My girls have heard me say a thousand times to take the high road and be kind. We know as adults this is much easier said than done, especially when our emotions take over. A dear friend was sharing a story with me this week, and they shared that hurting people hurt others to make themselves feel better. This really stuck with me as we tend to see more and more hurtful comments in the social media world we live in, and kindness is even more important than ever before.
In healthcare, we often see patients at their worst, and sometimes they can be difficult and frustrating to deal with while remaining kind and calm. I would challenge you this week to look beyond the behavior to see what is driving it and try to connect with our patients. As we all know, it can be difficult to navigate every situation with kindness and grace, especially when emotions are running high, but I know our team is so skilled which is what sets us apart. Thank you for the difference you make every day.
