Amy's Reflections
I recently read a motivational post that said, “It only counts as personal growth if you don’t want to do it.” This really stuck with me as there are many times in our lives when we have to move beyond our comfort zone into the scary unknown and push ourselves to grow. It is in these moments that we often learn the most about ourselves. I can think of five such moments off the top of my head that were pivotal growth moments for me.
Last week, I had the privilege of doing the welcome to a wonderful group of ISH team members who have been selected to participate in the Emerge Leadership Development. I was able to share my own journey at ISH with the group. I started in patient accounts and worked my way up through many different positions to where I am now. One thing remained constant during that journey: not just stepping out of my comfort zone to grow into a new role but also having someone believe in me and encourage me along the way. Through the years, Steve has always had a gift for seeing people in roles where they can provide the most impact. He has always been the encouraging force pushing me to personal growth and development, and I am so grateful. This week, I challenge you to be that force for someone or thank that someone in your life who is that force for you. Personal growth is hard, but you will never know what you can accomplish if you don’t try.
