Amy's Reflections

March 3, 2025

“After every storm the sun will smile; for every problem there is a solution, and the soul’s indefeasible duty is to be of good cheer.” – William R. Alger

It is so easy to feel stressed and overwhelmed in our busy lives. There is almost always something requiring our time and attention that it can feel difficult to slow down and do the things we enjoy. It is important to make time for what you love and to spend time with those you love. I am trying to coordinate a family vacation, and we are now on the third set of dates to try to make it work for everyone. We were supposed to go in March, but I broke my foot. Then we were going to go in June, but Shaila isn’t able to take vacation, so now we are looking for alternative dates. I am a firm believer in the power of positivity, so I chose to look at the alternate dates and having to change plans as an opportunity.

The only thing in my control is how I respond to the changes and the attitude I maintain as we plan to spend time together. It seems that we often get caught up in worst case scenarios and the sky is falling mentality, when we really are in control of how we respond to what is going on around us. So, my challenge this week is that you take a deep breath, gather your thoughts and decide how you want to respond to changes happening around you. Control what you can and let the rest fall away!
