A Message from the CEO - Dec 2025
I came to the conclusion this Christmas season that I’ve suddenly become intolerant to massive amounts of holiday treats. Especially cheese dip. I’ve crossed over into being forced to eat healthier. This is a God thing. He’s essentially saying, “Steve, you’re not a young pup anymore - step and be responsible. A brick of Velveeta/week may not be the best thing for your health anymore.” Sigh. This I know.
In my life of limited knowledge, medicine seems to be transitioning, changing into more of a holistic, functional, all mind and body consuming study. Basically, in “Steve” talk - everything affects everything. My social activity affects my appetite, my mental state affects my cold and flu fighting ability, and my lack of sleep/exercise/water intake affects everything in a big way. The connections are strong and real.
I’ve talked to experts, and they agree with me - for the most part. One guy - who is amazingly smart - said he worked on slowing down his physical aging process by really focusing on the things you have to do to be at your best. He gave up drinking and eating (he went vegan - which in my book is akin to starving). He focused on the quality of his sleep, exercised a lot, took supplements, and meditated. He was able to get his numbers down to a place where he was aging slower than he was supposed to. (He was “40” physically, but his age was “50” - example.)
He said he stopped this because it was really hard and not fun. My take on it is - I can make changes in my life (eat less cheese, exercise more, sleep better) and maybe I won’t look 35 when I’m 80, but I will be somewhat healthier and ultimately happier.
I confess - I’m not a good sick person. I pull a muscle (hamstring - like I did last year) and I - and everyone around me - is miserable. So, my Christmas gift to everyone this year is I’m going to try to be healthier.*
*Feed me cheese dip at your peril. You have been warned.
