Iowa Specialty Hospitals Receive Five-Star Ratings as Top Hospitals in Iowa that Patients Would Highly Recommend

Iowa Specialty Hospital-Belmond and Iowa Specialty Hospital-Clarion each recently received a five-star rating as top hospitals in Iowa that patients would highly recommend by Becker’s Hospital Review.

705 hospitals in the nation were recommended for this distinction, according to CMS' Provider Data Catalog.  The hospitals were among 24 hospitals in Iowa chosen for this recognition.

CMS created 10 HCAHPS star ratings based on publicly reported HCAHPS measures. The patient recommendation star rating combines data from three HCAHPS survey questions and summarizes if patients would recommend the system to their friends and family.

The star rating is based on survey data collected from hospital patients between July 2023 and June 2024. The figures are from CMS’ Provider Data Catalog and were released April 30. 

Last year, 464 hospitals received a five-star rating for patient recommendation.
