Iowa Specialty Hospitals Receive Five Star Rating As A Top Hospital In Iowa For Care Transitions

Iowa Specialty Hospital-Belmond and Iowa Specialty Hospital-Clarion recently received a five-star rating as a top hospital in Iowa for care transitions by Becker’s Hospital Review.

Iowa Specialty Hospital-Belmond and Iowa Specialty Hospital-Clarion were among only 6 other hospitals in Iowa chosen for this recognition.

Becker's has compiled a list of the best hospitals for care transitions in each state using Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems data from CMS.

CMS shares 10 HCAHPS star ratings based on publicly reported HCAHPS measures. The care transitions star rating combines data from three HCAHPS survey questions:

• During this hospital stay, staff took my preferences and those of my family or caregiver into account in deciding what my health care needs would be when I left.

• When I left the hospital, I had a good understanding of the things I was responsible for in managing my health.

• When I left the hospital, I clearly understood the purpose for taking each of my medications.

The star rating is based on survey data collected from hospital patients from July 2021 through June 2022. The figures are from CMS' Provider Data Catalog and were released April 26.
