Iowa Specialty Hospital Receives Funds from Variety - The Children's Charity of Iowa

Iowa Specialty Hospital-Clarion recently received $6,500 in grant funding from Variety – The Children’s Charity of Iowa to help fund the purchase of GE Healthcare Novii+ Wireless Patch Systems for their Maternity Center.

The GE Healthcare Novii+ Wireless Patch System is a wireless, beltless maternal/fetal monitoring system that non-invasively measures fetal heart rate, maternal heart rate, and uterine activity as early as 34 weeks as well as during labor, all while enabling mothers to comfortably move and rest. By allowing mothers to be more mobile and comfortable during monitoring by their Iowa Specialty physician, this wireless technology provides a better patient experience.

 “Patients really enjoy the Novii+ monitoring system,” said Brittney Schafer, OB Leader. “It gives them the freedom to be up and moving and not confined to the bed. The wireless monitoring system allows patients to follow their birth plans because of the added mobility it provides. Staff are able to educate patients on how to use different positioning (birthing ball, step stool, etc.) while utilizing the Novii+ to monitor heart rate and uterine activity. Patients have voiced increased comfort during their labor as it allows mothers to walk around, change positions, and even use the whirlpool tub.”
