Carla Aldrich - DAISY

We would like to nominate Carla for the DAISY Award for the tremendous care she provided to a surgical patient. Carla's nursing judgement and experience showed on this day. In anticipation for needing closer monitoring and a longer projected surgery time, she placed an arterial line in the OR, which was a crucial part of caring for the patient when time mattered. Her quick response and interventions allowed Carla to be able to request blood before the patient started showing signs of distress. She was able to keep the patient stable throughout the surgery. Upon completion of the surgery, the patient ended up being transferred to a higher level of care. While giving report to the ambulance crew, Carla noticed the crew did not appear to be comfortable transferring this patient. Without missing a beat, she offered to go along on the transport. Carla stayed with the patient until the patient was at the next level of care. Her outstanding care kept the patient safe. We are very lucky to have Carla as a part of our team!!
