Brittney Schafer - DAISY Nurse Leader Award

Brittney went above and beyond as both a leader and a friend during one of the most difficult times in my life. After I unexpectedly required emergency back surgery, I was unable to manage many of the daily responsibilities that both my mother and I depended on. Without hesitation, Brittney stepped in and offered her support. She delivered our mail every day, brought groceries, fed my cats, helped clean up after a water leak, vacuumed, cleaned, took out the trash, and completed countless other tasks that needed attention. She did all of this with a positive attitude, never expecting anything in return. Whenever I thanked her, she would simply say, “That’s what friends are for.” Brittney recognized a need and immediately took action. Her kindness, selflessness, and willingness to help made an incredibly challenging situation manageable. I truly could not have gotten through that time without her support. She exemplifies compassion, service, and leadership, and I am deeply grateful for everything she did for my family and me.
