Whatever you are doing, keep doing it!
I am scheduled for knee replacement surgery later this month in Clarion, and today I visited ISH for a fun morning full of pre-op appointments.
Whatever you are doing, keep doing it!
Over the years, I have accompanied several family members through serious healthcare journeys, including leukemia, adenoid cystic carcinoma, kidney disease, breast cancer, and heart failure. Along the way, we received care at a variety of local facilities as well as at larger healthcare systems in metro areas.
The care, compassion, and professionalism I experienced today at ISH reminded me of a larger healthcare system, with the added benefits of being easier to navigate and much closer to home.
From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted warmly by a friendly face at the registration desk. Every staff member I encountered was positive, helpful, and genuinely engaged. The lab technician successfully drew blood on the first attempt, which is a rare accomplishment for me. Volunteers and staff personally guided me from one appointment to the next. While I am confident I could have found my way on my own, that extra level of attentiveness made me feel welcomed and cared for.
What struck me most was that every interaction, no matter how brief, reflected a culture centered on kindness, service, and patient experience. As someone who has spent a great deal of time in healthcare settings, I know that doesn't happen by accident. It is the result of strong leadership and a team that takes pride in its work.
Please extend my gratitude to everyone involved in my care today. It was an exceptional experience, and I left feeling confident that I am in very good hands for my upcoming surgery.
