I would like to express my gratitude for the excellent care I have received at Iowa Specialty Hospital. May I begin in early September with Dr. R. Diamond, who quickly assessed my situation and referred me to the specialist I needed to evaluate the treatment going forward. It began with ruling out any serious problems and a referral to a specialist. I appreciated the rapidity and professionalism.

A conversation on the need for surgery was warranted. Within several days, Dr. Diamond arranged for me to speak with Carrie Reese, ARNP, from Gastroenterology. After reviewing the material at hand, she explained the plan on going forward.

Again, very quickly, I was talking with Dr. Miegge, who gave very detailed information about the surgical procedure. I was pleased to learn that she would be doing it laparoscopically, if possible. Although I was resolved on having the surgery, there is always a sense of fear of being cut open. But Dr. Miegge, as well as Dr. Diamond during the surgical prep exam, made me feel at ease and confident that I was in good hands. It is reassuring when you can see different departments working together in harmonic cooperation.

My wife and I cannot say enough good things about the care I received, beginning with the information on the preparation at home, the pre-op procedures that morning, and the care during my stay. I don't remember a thing about the recovery room.

You asked about the food; my wife thought the food was surprisingly good, and I can't complain about the Jello and broth.
