I am very thankful and grateful for the care I received during the process of having my total knee
I have tried to produce an answer to the question, "What is the one thing that we could have done better to provide you with a "WOW" experience?" but could not because my experience already provided the "WOW." My husband and I were extremely impressed with and thankful for how well my experience was at ISH. Starting with Dr. Odland and his office staff, with being very accommodating by trying knee injections first before I was completely ready to commit to having a total knee replacement. The Total Knee Replacement Guide I received from the office was highly informative and helpful with the entire process of what to expect pre-, intra-, and post-operative care. Then having all my pre-op appointments (Labs, Joint Education class, Physical & Respiratory Therapy, history & physical with Dr. Harmer) scheduled all on one day. The pre-op education from the joint class, as well as from physical and respiratory therapy, was immensely helpful in preparing my husband, who was my caregiver, and myself on what to expect. I knew I was going to be well taken care of by the Surgery Department staff during my surgery experience since I work with them all occasionally as a PRN nurse. My husband was overly impressed with everyone on how friendly, helpful, and attentive to my needs they were, even his needs while he was waiting for me.
I chose to have my total knee as an outpatient procedure, and I'm glad I did because I could spend my recovery time at home. I started outpatient therapy right away on Monday morning following surgery on Friday. ISH physical therapists and assistants were awesome. I am so thankful for the patience, guidance, and encouragement they have provided me with. I do not think I would have been able to get where I am now with my walking and getting my strength back in my leg without ISH Physical Therapy.
Please let everyone at ISH know I am very thankful and grateful for the care I received during this process of having my total knee replacement done at your facility. A shout-out to Steph, Heather, Anne, Alexa, Aggie, Wendy, Jenna, Dawson, and Tish in Surgery, and everyone else in Surgery as well, because it takes a team to get the job done. Also, a shout-out to Physical Therapists Lisa and Michele, who treated me when I first started having knee problems over a year ago. Ron and Dakota, who were a big asset in getting me through post-op physical therapy and where I am now. Plus, for having to not only deal with me but with my husband hanging out while I had therapy and keeping him involved, too. Plus, a shout out to the Registration staff at the clinic, who were always friendly and knew who I was when I checked in for my physical therapy appointments. Which brings me to the comment my husband made to me when we left the clinic after my six-week follow-up appointment with Dr. Odland. He commented, "ISH does not even seem like a hospital - not so cold as other hospitals we have been in. Everyone is friendly and caring."
