Medication-Assisted Treatment Program for Substance Use Disorder

Psychiatric Services for Medication Management

Many people with substance use disorder also have mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or mood changes.

Psychiatric medication management can help treat mental health symptoms that may be part of your recovery.

This service includes:

• A full mental health review
• Medication planning when needed
• Monitoring for side effects
• Adjustments to your medication plan
• Ongoing support from a psychiatric provider

OWI Evaluations in Iowa

An OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) evaluation is a mandatory substance abuse assessment required by the courts and the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) to reinstate your driver's license. Its primary purpose is to determine the extent of your substance use and recommend appropriate education or treatment from a substance abuse counselor.

Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics provides Operating While Intoxicated, or OWI, evaluations for a fee of $125.

Please plan for the process to take up to two hours. OWI assessment forms need to be completed before your appointment.

When to Ask for Help

You should reach out if alcohol or drug use is starting to feel hard to control.

You may also want to ask for help if a loved one has shared concern, or if substance use is affecting your health, mood, work, school, parenting, or relationships.

If you or a loved one is suffering a mental health or substance abuse crisis, reach out to one of these helplines.

If you think you may overdose, or if someone is having trouble breathing, is unconscious, or cannot be awakened, call 911 right away. An overdose is a medical emergency.
