I just wanted to send a quick note to say how much I appreciate Vaughna Rethman’s help with care coordination. I don’t know all the ways that employee recognition happens, but she is incredibly helpful with some of my most challenging patients and deserves recognition. She’s a great patient advocate and is always willing to try to figure something out if it will help a patient, even if it’s an issue that is not typically in her wheelhouse. As an example, two of my patients recently have been sold Medicare Advantage plans that probably weren’t in their best interest (and one of these patients has significant dementia). Vaughna has worked to get them in touch with people who can give them objective advice and also got the contact information for the salesman to report the concerns to the state. Little things like this make a huge difference in many patient’s quality of life and are normally things that the medical system is terrible at helping with. There are plenty of other examples, she’s been exceptional in her role.
