The Brief by Reagan

May 31, 2021

When this article comes out it will either be on or just after Memorial Day.  Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day originated after the Civil War as a way to remember those who had fallen.  As congress passed the Uniform Holiday Act, the federal holiday was set on the last Monday of May.

Memorial Day is our national holiday to remember all the American military personnel who have fallen during all wars and/or conflicts.  I hope each and everyone of us took the time to thank a service member and remember what sacrifices they make for our Country.

On a lighter note the holiday seems to mark the start of summer for many of us.  School is ending and the kids are ready for a break.  I’m not sure I’m ready for them to be off, but they sure are.  It’s the start of warm summer days, bar-b-ques, and lake/pool days.

As things warm up and we dive into summer, take time to slow down and enjoy time with family, friends, and/or those closest to you.  The days move quickly and we don’t get the time back.

I hope you had a great weekend and thank you for all you do, and to our military service members and their families, either active or inactive, thank you for all you’ve sacrificed in service to our country.
