The Brief by Reagan

May 20, 2019

We are in the process of preparing for a family vacation.  We will be gone for five days and I’m thinking I should seek help now as a preemptive strike on the chaos that is about to begin.  I have a wonderful family, but the five of us together for that long always gets a little questionable.

We aren’t going anywhere exciting or exotic, instead a good old fashion family road trip to the Black Hills.  Whenever we do this I feel just like Chevy Chase.  Great intentions and excitement to start but by the time we get there I’ve completely lost my mind and end up in the fetal position.

I don’t know what it is about road trips, the idea seems amazing, but you’re done by the time you get to the end.  This feels so much like healthcare right now.  We are on a road trip and by the end we’ll all be exhausted.

Looking down the road technological advances are going to continue to push the boundaries of healthcare.  New devices are coming out each day and giving us the ability to reach further without the requirement of a physical presence.  New wearable diagnostic devices are giving us greater information on our own wellbeing and lifestyle choices.   Intentions are great and the new items are exciting but keeping up is exhausting.

The journey will be trying but we have a great team to help us get through.  Every once in a while you have to take it mile by mile and it seems touch and go, but together we’ll get to the destination.  I make no promises about hair loss or ending up in a fetal position, but we’ll get there.
