Reflections from Amy

January 8, 2015

New Year's Day. A fresh start. A new chapter in life waiting to be written. New questions to be asked, embraced, and loved. Answers to be discovered and then lived in this transformative year of delight and self-discovery. Today carve out a quiet interlude for yourself in which to dream, pen in hand. Only dreams give birth to change.  ~Sara Ban Breathnach

Over winter break, Rick and I discussed how Shaila wasn't doing a whole lot to help out. There were a couple of days that she didn't appear to move off the couch. She was truly enjoying her time off from school and dance. As we started to have the discussion on her behavior compared to her normal behavior, we stopped to realize that we are very blessed as she is truly an amazing young lady. I challenge you all with this New Year to change your focus and see the good not just the bad. Rick and I needed to refocus and remember that many mornings she will get her siblings up and dressed and off to the bus on time when we leave early for work. She will a lot of times have done homework with her siblings before we get home from work. She is a great sister and a wonderful daughter. Appreciate what you have! The start of a new year is like turning a page in a notebook. We are starting with a clean slate and the possibilities are limitless for this year. We have so many great things going on right now that we need to continue to focus on the positives. If we continue on the path that we are on, there are great things coming our way!

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
