Reflections from Amy

December 18, 2014

It's true; Christmas can feel like a lot of work, particularly for mothers. But when you look back on all the Christmases in your life, you'll find you've created family traditions and lasting memories. Those memories, good and bad, are really what help to keep a family together over the long haul. ~ Caroline Kennedy

Season’s greetings, everyone! I love this time of year, most especially with children in my house. It is so fun to see the season through their eyes. The boys are very excited as they have a Christmas program this week at church, and they are inviting everyone they know. Thanks, Fran Banta, for getting them excited about church and the Reason for the Season. They love spending every Wednesday night with you! Of course we are also on a countdown to Christmas break and look forward to spending time with family and friends.  I love the traditions of this time of year — everything from making roll out sugar cookies to cutting our own Christmas tree to Christmas Eve church service. These traditions bring me peace and comfort. Think of the traditions that we have at Iowa Specialty Hospital and how they all center around helping each other and bringing peace and comfort. The care you provide is truly amazing, but even beyond that, the unending care and support that you show for your fellow worker leaves me speechless. We have wonderful acts of kindness from donations to the employee hardship fund and the holiday hardship fund to donating PTO to each other in need. Knowing that I have the support of my work family also brings me peace and comfort.  May you each find peace and comfort this holiday season.

Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. ~ Seymour Miller & Jill Jackson
