Shaila shared with me the other night that she had the worst day. Her team got beat in PE class, 29-1. She blamed it on the mix of players, and said that if she had the right team, she could have excelled. Now as a mother I was torn. This was a coaching moment to take responsibility as a member of a team and know that you win and lose together. However, the other part of me agreed that sometimes having the “right” team makes all the difference. Every time we have lunch with the new employees, Kirk tells them that they are lucky to be here as we strive to only pick the best. I smile every time he says it. Our mission to provide an exceptional health care experience can only be accomplished by the “right” team. We are very fortunate to work in a vocation that allows us to help others. The selfless act of helping others and the joy that brings is the singular item that research has proven actually generates happiness. So, I say to all of you, go get your happy on and help as much and as many as you can. If you live your life in this way you can be guaranteed a spot on the “right” team.
