Notes from Steve

September 12, 2022

Today is a day of remembrance. Obviously 9/11, and all the grief and anger that the anniversary stirs, but also there have been a lot of events in the past week … even the last couple of days … that are heartbreaking. I’m stunned into silence when I hear that a member of my extended community family suffers a tragedy. There are never enough words or hugs or prayers -- in my opinion -- that can ease the absolute sorrow.

We talk about culture a lot. The words “family” and “team” and “community” are more than just words … at least to me. They represent the strong fabric of support I don’t think exists elsewhere in the same deep fashion. When one falls, we all fall and when one rises, we all rise. Please know that you -- the fact that you are reading this -- are a part of a larger group of people who cares about you and knows you. Like it or not, we are in this journey together, and we will rise together.

Biking is a big part of my life. The word peloton is defined as a large group of cyclists riding together. They ride together to reduce wind resistance and become stronger together. I look at us like that. We are all riding on this journey of life together, fighting our battles, and are stronger because of it.

Even though it will never be enough - reach out with your words, hugs, and prayers. Your family needs this now more than ever.

Peace.
