Notes from Steve

I’m not much of a cookie eater.  My mom used to make a ton of chocolate chip cookies, and to tell you the truth, I was not a fan.  I don’t like the hard cookie and for that matter, I don’t like big soft cookies.  My sister made these sugar cookies with cream cheese, and to the naked eye - they look like your regular bland sugar cookie … but OMG they are incredible.  (cheese makes everything good)

To the naked eye … the cookies appear normal.  Kind of Clark Kent-ish.  I like to think that’s us.  I was driving back from Des Moines yesterday up on County K and went by the hospital in Clarion.  I thought “our campus in Clarion is fairly unassuming”.  Other rural hospitals are palatial - big entrances, fancy waterfalls, mahogany and granite … but not us … to the naked eye we appear average.  But we’re not.

I don’t know about you, but I like to be surprised.  I appreciate the stories of the “assumed” underachiever who hits it big with their talent.  Remember that show Britain’s Got Talent?  Susan Boyle (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE1Lxw5ZyXk) was that contestant that shocked the judges - she didn’t look the part and so people assumed. She showed them.

Don’t allow others to assume things about you.  Surprise them - be a Clark Kent, a superhero in disguise.  Show off your talents; let everyone know how good you are and be proud.
