Thankful People are Happy People!
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday (I know I’m a week early for this theme, but Amy’s week to write is next week, and it’s never too early to be thankful). All the holiday “buzz” is just beginning around town. Our family will all be together; with two still at home, and two coming from college, and one coming from her job in Houston and bringing her boyfriend. My brother Ken and his wife Kathy will join us as well. It seems we are at a phase in life where the celebration is growing, and I love it! We always do something unique together over the holiday. This year, right after we watch the *Huskers beat the Hawks on Friday we will head to the “Escape Chamber”. It’s an interactive experience fashioned after the movie “Saw”. We will have an hour to figure out how to escape a dungeon-like experience or succumb to an “uncertain fate”. From Wednesday to Sunday there will plenty of food and cards and board games. I’m also hoping to win my own family billiards tournament in the basement.
I’m thankful for so much, for everything really. I cherish my family. My wife is my greatest gift and, because of her, I’m growing into the man God made me to be. I’m thankful for my health (Shelly is keeping me healthy by getting me up at 4am to kickbox, so I’m usually in bed by 8pm!) and for the ability to provide for my family. I’m thankful for the opportunities I’ve had in life including becoming a part of the Iowa Specialty Family. Thanks for the positive energy I get daily from watching you serve people and save lives. Happy Thanksgiving!
