Making the Rounds
Stay positive. Be thankful.
This Friday is July 17th. It will be my daughter’s (Grace) 23rd birthday. My oldest son Jack (21) will take the MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test) on Friday. Cole (19) heads to Creighton in about 6 weeks. Hunter (16) is in Ann Arbor at debate camp for another 4 weeks (and may want to attend the University of Michigan. God help him!) and the baby, Grant (15) is in LA for debate camp. For the next couple of weeks, Shelly (age not revealed) and I are getting a small taste of what empty nesting might be like. As much as I have looked forward to it (because raising kids is tough), I already feel as though our house is a bit too quiet. I am very thankful for our family! It’s what inspires me to be better each day, personally and professionally. To accomplish that, I know I must make each choice a good one, never stop learning, be thankful, and STAY POSITIVE (no matter how bad our EHR is and no matter how many complaints I hear about it).
Thankful people are joyful. Joyful people are positive. That’s our culture (our “climate”). It doesn’t mean we can’t have a bad day, (our “weather”) but they will mostly be good and we do have control of that. Continue living our standards of behavior, especially the 5/10 (eye contact at 10 feet, greeting at 5 feet). Have you ever noticed how people respond when you do it outside of our facilities? It is quite entertaining! Enjoy the summer. This week do one more thing…Stay cool!
