This is my first chance to sit down and think about what that means. A new year is a great time to just stop and reassess. Be still. Listen. What I’ve heard so far;
I’ve heard my son graciously accept consequences for a mistake that seems huge for the moment, but in the end will hopefully set him off in the right direction.
I’ve heard my only daughter reflect on all the GOOD that came out of 2016 (choosing not to dwell on the obvious bad) and how that will shape this next year for her.
I’ve heard my wife cry, overwhelmed with emotion (mostly happiness) because she knows she has done everything for the right reasons, followed her heart and loved people. She has gained confidence in running a business and has learned to face fear and stare at the “I don’t care!”
I’ve heard another son tell his mother that she is the most influential person in his life. Her example has inspired him to write about her in college entrance essays.
I plan to keep listening. So far I’ve heard great things from those closest to me. I have a lot yet to learn in this life. I’m not done yet!
“Brave” got me through last year. My word for this year is “strength”. I need it in ALL aspects. I know how closely the physical body affects the mind and spirit. For the past month I’ve been lifting heavy weights again (it has been years since I’ve done that). It feels really good! My attitude is so much better. I encourage everyone to do something physical, whatever is FUN. Just get out and move. You’ll feel better and you will even want to eat better.
I look to the future with hope, but I will be conscious of living in the moment, listening and learning from those around me telling me who they are and what they know.
2017. Make it great for yourself!
A couple other fun things I’ve heard:
Time Magazine says a child born today could live to be 130 years old!
Elon Musk, founder of Tesla (age 45) believes he could retire on Mars.
If you hear anything cool please share it with me. Until next time, be well!
