Our son, Hunter, just returned from a trip to Europe with his girlfriends’ family. It was his graduation gift from Shelly and me. While he was in London there was a terrorist attack. He was actually set up to go to the London Bridge the very next day. That was obviously cancelled. Yesterday, multiple congressmen were attacked while playing baseball by someone filled with hate and anger. Here at home, we have several medical staff members who have lost loved ones or are battling life threatening illnesses.
I guess the prevailing thought I have today is one of compassion. Yesterday, Cindy brought me a couple of tenderloins to take home and grill. It may have been a small gesture in her mind, but the way I have been feeling this week it nearly brought a tear to my eye-I was actually moved by that! (They were great too! I grilled them at 10 pm last night. ) I am going to try to be more patient, understanding and loving. I need to humble myself. I need to listen, and I need to pray. I encourage y’all to do the same. Find a best friend at work. Stay connected. Remember your “why”.
My “Prescription for happiness”:
1) Adequate sleep
2) Good nutrition
3) Fun diversion
5) Quiet time
Remember to do these five things each day and it will be nearly impossible to be unhappy! If you can’t do those, just remember to be thankful and that works just as well.
Have a great weekend.
