It’s the first of the month, how are you doing with your New Year’s resolutions? That’s what I thought. I never remember mine. This year, however, Steve suggested I identify a word for the year, and I do remember that: Brave. How is that workin’ out for me, you ask? I’d say pretty well. There have been many opportunities to put the word into action. It has been an emotional roller coaster. I do feel I have grown in all areas. The biggest lesson I have learned is that you cannot operate out of FEAR. You cannot be productive in "CYA“ mode. We have to live by faith (the belief in things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen) and do the very best you can. You also have to understand that you (and others) are only human and need grace.
If you didn’t pick a word for 2016, do so now. There is plenty of year left. It will “stick” longer than a resolution and will give you focus. Enjoy the start of summer. I’m pretty sure it won’t snow for a while (even though we are north of Highway 20)!
Please keep Dr. Emile Li and his family in your prayers as he lost his father this week. He was quite a man, and it’s easy to see that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear from our souls. – Maya Angelou
