This past weekend we went to see “The Shack”. Fantastic Movie. Especially for those of us who have dealt with tragedy (there are those who have dealt with tragedy and those who will). It is the story of a father whose 5 year old daughter was abducted and killed. It takes you through his journey of grief and anger and guilt and forgiveness. I came away (after many tears) feeling hopeful.
Sometimes we get “stuck”. If we work through our issues and face them honestly and fearlessly we can come through having grown. Not only that, we can emerge with more compassion and less judgment. I’ve decided that is what I’m going to for Lent. I have already given up candy, pop, and milk (forever) in my life. This Lent, I am going to increase compassion and forgiveness (it will be my daily “swing thought”) starting with myself. Enjoy your upcoming weekend! Don’t forget to “spring forward” (as daylight savings time begins).
