Making the Rounds with Dr. Hurt

October 12, 2016

Today (October 12th) is my 54th birthday.  It’s 5am, and I’m getting ready to take a kickboxing class.  The day started at 4 am with “candlelight coffee”.  Shelly and I usually start the day with quiet time together. I told her earlier this week that I feel more like I always dreamed my life would be like now than ever before.  If you’ve read this article at all over the past 10 months, that might surprise you.  At first I thought I felt that way despite all that has happened, but it’s actually BECAUSE of all that has happened. The only explanation for that is Grace. I am so thankful for all the blessings in my life, and I know that God is faithful and I’ve trusted when I knew not what else to do.

In our family, the birthday person gets to pick where or what they want for dinner.  Tonight we will go to “Latin King”, my favorite.  I will have the best New York Strip in town, baked potato, broccoli, side of pasta, and a glass of Chianti. I’m a blessed guy.

Last year, on my birthday, I wrote about “the cake” (another Hurt family tradition). Tonight I get to eat it too!

*My PRESCRIPTION for HAPPINESS (to be done daily):

1) Quiet Time (prayer/devotional)

2) Good Nutrition

3) Adequate Sleep

4) Exercise

5) Fun Diversion
