On November 11th I have the great honor of being the “buddy” in a 5K run with my nephew who is part of the Waukee school district. My nephew is part of STRIDE which is a fun fitness and running program for boys in grades 3rd through 5th. Boys have the chance to share their thoughts and opinions about various life topics in a safe, encouraging environment that helps them develop character while building their running endurance to compete in a 5K. Stride stands for:
Success + Teamwork + Respect + Inspiration + Determination = Excellence in Character
As I was thinking about STRIDE, it occurred to me that this sounds a lot like our Standards of Behavior (Appearance, Attitude, Respect, Communication, and Accountability) and what we do at Iowa Specialty Hospitals and Clinics. At Iowa Specialty Hospital we want our patients to share their thoughts and opinions through the Press Ganey surveys. In addition, the opinions of staff members are valued and engagement is expected. Both of these improve our quality and create an opportunity to share information and become a better organization.
Thank you STRIDE for offering a great mission that encourages boys to exhibit excellence in character in all aspects of their lives, make healthy choices and build confidence. But especially, thank you providers, staff and patients for making Iowa Specialty Hospital the best place for providers to practice, staff to work and patients to receive care.
In the spirit of the political season – “This is Greg Polzin and I approve this message.”
Until next time……
