Keep all special thoughts and memories for lifetimes to come. Share these keepsakes with others to inspire hope and build from the past, which can bridge to the future.” ~ Mattie Stepanek
I had the wonderful opportunity last week to visit my elderly Aunt and Uncle in Missouri. They live on a farm in Northeastern Missouri where my Uncle still farms. They are truly an inspiration to me for two reasons. One, they have been married 65 years and are great role models for how to travel this life together. Two, they remain active and independent even as they age. It is always fun to see family and spend time visiting. This visit really reminded me of how quickly time flies, and that we need to make the most of the time we have with each other. There is only so much time we are given, and we really should live our lives to the fullest.
For many people work is just a job. Fortunately for us in healthcare, we have the incredible opportunity to work in a vocation that changes people’s lives. Sometimes it is about relieving pain, sometimes it is about giving them more quality time with their families, and sometimes it is about allowing them to say goodbye. No matter what, each and every one of you impacts the care that we provide to our patients. Please remember as you are living life to the fullest that you are also changing this world for the better. You inspire me!
Concern yourself more with accepting responsibility than with assigning blame. Let the possibilities inspire you more than the obstacles discourage you. ~ Ralph Marston
