Amy's Reflections

“Give the ones you love wings to fly, roots to come back and the reasons to stay.” ~ Dalai Lama

We did our first session of senior pictures this past weekend with Shaila. I can’t believe she will be a senior this year.  I say first session as she is having her dad take her photos so she can have as many “sessions” as she wants throughout the year. He has a passion for photography, and they won’t be perfect, but they will be special to our family. It is a busy and exciting time for Shaila as she is starting to be more independent and make decisions about her future and what she thinks she wants to do with her life. We have had a lot of discussions lately about roots and wings. I pray that she always knows that her roots will lead her home, but that she uses her wings to explore what the world has to offer.

She believes that her wings will lead her to a career in healthcare and more specifically nursing. She has her CNA certification and really enjoys working with the patients. She was able to shadow several of our amazing nursing staff this week. This allowed her an incredible opportunity to see what different nursing areas can look like, and helped her solidify her plan to go into nursing. Thank you to those that worked with her this week, but also to all of you that mentor our new employees and help them be the best version of themselves. You may never truly know the impact that you are making, but the impression you leave will never be forgotten. I am continually thankful for the ability to work with such caring and amazing people. You are truly there for the highest highs and the lowest lows for our patients and their families. Thank you for the difference you make.

“When you believe in what you're doing and use your imagination and initiative, you can make a difference.” ~ Samuel Dash
