Amy's Reflections

September 6, 2018

I made it through the first senior recognition night for Shaila at the football game two weeks ago. I am really trying to enjoy this year and spend my “moments” wisely. I know without a doubt that how this year goes for me depends on my attitude and how I approach the year. Jacob and I have had a similar conversation a lot lately. He is twelve and has a quick temper especially with his twin brother who knows just how to push his buttons. I constantly remind him that the only thing he can control in this world is his attitude and how he responds. We have even worked on a finger trick that I often use to refocus his thoughts. I often say that parenting is not for the faint hearted. It is however an incredible privilege to be part of their journey.

In healthcare there are many times where things don’t go as planned, or we don’t have control of a situation. The only thing we can control is how we respond to the situation and the people around us. We are blessed to be a part of many “moments” with our patients on their journey. Some are the highest highs and some are the lowest lows, but we are always there providing comfort and compassion along the way. You make all the difference to our patients. Never underestimate the impact you make. This week choose an attitude to match your greatness!
