Amy's Reflections

May 17, 2018

“Your character is formed by the challenges you face and overcome.” ~ Nick Vujicic

May is such a busy month at our house. Three of my four kids have May birthdays, so they are busy making grand plans about gifts and parties. It is also the time of year where we celebrate graduations. Whether it be from high school or college, it is an exciting time as these young adults prepare to embark on a new chapter in their lives. I attended the annual awards ceremony for the graduating seniors this week and was inspired to see them chasing their dreams. I was honored to present the Dr. Samuel P. Leinbach scholarship to someone pursuing a career in the healthcare field. It warmed my heart to be able to present this scholarship to Danielle Jenison, daughter of Mark Jenison. She will be pursuing a career in pharmacy and we wish her all the best.

As I watched these young adults graciously accept support in chasing their dreams via the scholarships they were awarded, it made me stop and reflect as it will be Shaila’s turn next year. Although I am not sure that I am ready for her to move on, I am quite certain she is ready, and I know she will do just fine. This week reminded me that we should all face the future with that kind of confidence and excitement. In healthcare we face change and challenges every day. It can create a lot of different emotions in us from fear to frustration. My challenge for you this week is that although we may not know what the future holds, may we boldly step towards it and continue to impact the lives of those in our care.
