How do you know you are on the right path? Every day we encounter decisions that require us to pick a path and proceed with confidence that we are boldly heading in the right direction. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. We may not always agree or understand the reason but it is still leading us down the path we were meant to follow. One of my favorite sayings is “Don’t look back; you’re not going that way”! Whenever I am faced with doubt regarding some big decision, I try to reflect on that quote and it helps me to keep moving and follow my path. I believe that sometimes we just need to take a deep breath and bravely move forward because what lies ahead is truly amazing.
At Iowa Specialty Hospitals and Clinics we have a long tradition of blazing a trail. This week we had the privilege of meeting with Senator Guth and discussing some of the projects that we are passionate about as well as the challenges we face. We spoke with passion about our mental health services and the growing need for expansion of these services. Greg and I have been able to participate in a couple of calls this past week with other facilities looking at following our lead with an integrated clinic model with mental health services. It is an incredible feeling to be able to share best practices with others and know that we are impacting patients across the State. We also discussed the work that has been accomplished in the EMS services across the County and how our tax payers came together to support those services. These were just two examples of us blazing a trail, but they are even better examples of incredible team work. We are fortunate to work in healthcare where we are able to impact people’s lives. We are even more fortunate to work with individuals that are caring, compassionate and difference makers. This is what sets us apart from other facilities, the genuine caring and compassion of a united group of people focused on the best for the patients. I am thankful to be on this journey with all of you! Keep blazing the trail and taking exceptional care of our patients.
