Amy's Reflections

July 8, 2019

"Great things in business are never done by one person; they're done by a team of people." – Steve Jobs

Hopefully everyone had a wonderful 4th of July and a restful weekend after all of the activities. We had the lovely gift of having our larger chest freezer stop working on the 4th and were left with about 8 garbage bags of thawed meat and other food. Needless to say it was a mess to clean up but we all pitched in and had it cleaned and sanitized in no time at all. Amazing how much easier the task was when we all worked together. We were a well-oiled machine with me and Maleigha filling garbage bags and the boys hauling them out and then Rick sanitizing the freezer. We maximized the strengths of each for the good of all. I am not sure the boys were super happy as we used their strength to carry those ridiculously heavy bags. Now, I am praying they pick up garbage on Friday morning or it will be truly disgusting by Tuesday.

As you are all diligently working on your self-evaluations and getting them turned into your leaders it is always a good time to reflect on the past year. When I complete my self-evaluation I typically focus on the things that I can do better, what I need to work on. Evaluation time is a great time to set personal goals as it would be highly unlikely that we don’t all have something to work on. This year as you work on your self-evaluation I would encourage you to really think about what you bring to your team and how you impact them. What is your strength that when maximized makes a significant impact to your team. Is it something that you could teach other team members? Be prepared to discuss this in your evaluation and to let your leader know the difference you are going to make this next year.  Remember when we share our gifts everyone’s load is lighter.
