Amy's Reflections

May 24, 2021

Maleigha has officially entered the teen years, and I am really kind of sad that my babies are growing up so fast. Someone asked me the other day if I was ready to be an empty nester in like 5 years. Um….absolutely not! Don’t get me wrong, the goal is to see them grow and spread their wings, but it seems like it was just yesterday that they were my babies and now I am the shortest one in the family. The time goes so quickly, and because the journey is fast in our busy daily lives, we often forget to take a deep breath and enjoy the adventure of everyday life. If you embrace the adventure even when it doesn’t go just how you had planned you will be amazed at the path.

As I wrapped up my daily emails a couple of weeks ago and reflected on the adventure of this past 15 months, I stopped to appreciate how much we accomplished and learned during this pandemic. Adventure by its very definition is “an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity”. Yep, that pretty much sums up this past year. I know we often felt like we were on the edge of out of control with all of the unknowns, but I am inspired by the dedication of our teams and the innovation of our system in continuing to provide exceptional care in the midst of so much unknown. As you look towards the month of June, and maybe enjoying some summer activities, I challenge you to look for the adventure in each new day. Embrace the unusual and exciting opportunities around you.
